Seeks Baramulla–Delhi Vande Bharat
Srinagar, Sep 12 (KNS) : Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for launching a daily parcel train service from Budgam to Delhi dedicated to the transportation of Kashmiri apples. Calling it a timely relief for growers, Inam said the initiative will ease the challenges faced by apple traders and ensure timely arrival of produce in Delhi markets.
In a statement issued, Inam Un Nabi highlighted that the step came in response to a request earlier made by the Office of incarcerated AIP President and MP Baramulla, Er. Rashid. “This shows that genuine public issues raised by people’s representatives are being acknowledged, even when they are behind bars,” he noted.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The AIP Chief Spokesperson urged the Railway Ministry to extend the parcel service up to Baramulla so that Asia’s largest Fruit Mandi at Sopore, having a railway station too, also gets the shortest and most direct access to the facility. He stressed that this would further strengthen Kashmir’s horticulture sector and benefit thousands of growers and traders.
He also appealed to the Government of India to consider starting direct passenger trains, including Vande Bharat, between Baramulla and Delhi, especially in view of skyrocketing airfares. “Air travel costs have gone beyond the reach of common people. Direct train connectivity from Baramulla to Delhi would ease this burden and serve as a major relief for the public,” Inam Un Nabi added.(KNS)
