Srinagar, May 18(KNS): Ahsan Pardesi on Sunday welcomed the approval of a Rs 361-crore Integrated Solid Waste Management Project at Achan, saying the initiative would strengthen Srinagar’s waste management system and help reduce pollution in the city.
In a statement, the Lal Chowk MLA congratulated Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for sanctioning the project, which will have a processing capacity of 800 tonnes per day.
Pardesi termed the project a “landmark initiative” for Srinagar and said it would play a key role in modernising waste collection, segregation and eco-friendly disposal systems in the city.

He said the project would contribute to cleaner streets, healthier communities and sustainable urban development while addressing the growing challenge of solid waste management in Srinagar.
The MLA said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment towards environmentally responsible growth and better civic infrastructure in the summer capital.
Pardesi also said the project fulfilled a long-pending demand of the people and expressed hope that it would help ensure a cleaner and greener Srinagar for future generations.(KNS).
