Srinagar April 15 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference  Provincial Vice President Kashmir Ahsan Pardesi on Saturday said the full and equitable participation of women in public life is essential to building and sustaining strong, vibrant and working democracies.
This he said while addressing a meeting of prominent workers of women's wing of Lal Chowk Constituency- presided over by him. Provincial women's wing President Er. Sabiya Qadri was also present on the occassion. 
 
Addressing the functionaries,he said that no tool for development is more effective than the empowerment of women. He said that the party policy of inclusion of women’s talent in political and public life has borne anticipated results in making party policies more attuned to the needs and requirements of the women. “We still have a long way to go in tapping the full potential of what constitutes half of humankind. Ensuring full participation of women in local, community, urban local bodies, Panchayats in leadership roles has been an important focus of the party since its inception. We have been the forerunners of women empowerment and with a clear cut vision and an unambiguous road map to achieve it,” he said.
 
Er. Sabiya Qadri, while addressing the women functionaries said that it is elevating to see women from different walks of life approaching party leadership, particularly Shameema Ji and herself to facilitate the joining.  “I am glad to announce that our ranks in the women wing have swelled by leaps and bounds.  We in the women’s wing are witnessing joining from every region in J&K. Our main objective has been to have more women from tribal, ST, SC, OBCs and other under privileged sections of society in our ranks.  The response, so far, has been immense. It is the impressive record of our party in women’s welfare, and the inclusive vision that attracts women particularly from tribal, OBCs, ST, SC, minorities and other unprivileged classes,” she added.
YNC vice president central Zone Fazil Bhat, Block youth president Nisar Ahmad Bhat were also present in the meeting.(KNS)
