Srinagar, Nov 04 (KNS): Ahead of the visit of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to Kashmir, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been placed under house arrest since Wednesday morning and stopped from performing religious, political and social obligations, spokesman of the amalgam said.
In a statement to KNS, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said besides the conglomerate’s Chairman, dozens of Hurriyat leaders and activists have been detained and placed under house arrest while their residences were also raided in a prelude to Modi’s visit to Kashmir on November 7.
He said this has completely exposed the political party that used to raise slogans like, ‘Grenade Se Na Goli Sey, Baat Bane Gi Boli Sey’ and brought its reality to the fore.
Calling the chief minister’s statement with regard to Modi as the height of sycophancy and political opportunism, Hurriyat (G) said that such remarks can only evoke disgust and disbelief that these people can go to such limits to stay in power.
He said that while minorities in India are on a daily basis bearing the brunt of BJP’s ire towards them and eminent people In India are ringing alarm bells by returning awards and resorting to other ways to bring the focus towards this grave situation, Mufti Syed’s showering praise on the head of BJP is ridiculous.
Hurriyat spokesman said that with such people at the helm the BJP-RSS agenda for Kashmir can smoothly be facilitated.
The spokesman said that by putting Mirwaiz under house arrest at his Nigeen residence He was stopped from participating in the conglomerate’s Executive Council, General Council and working Committee joint meeting where he had to review preparations for the amalgam’s November 6 programme at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar for paying tributes to the Martyrs of Jammu and also for the November 7 “Million March”.
He said the Hurriyat (M) Media Advisor, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam had also been placed under house arrest from Wednesday morning while senior Hurriyat leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Abdul Mannan Bukhari, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War and Abdul Rashid Untoo have been arrested and detained in Police Stations Sher Bagh Islamabad, Kothibagh, Nowgam, Maiusma and Magam respectively. The spokesman further said that other Hurriyat leaders and activists including Parvez Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Nabi Wasim, Engineer Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Irfan Khan, Shabir Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad Sofi have been detained at Kellar, Kupwara, Tral, Pulwama, and Sher Bagh Islamabad Police Stations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The spokesman said police has also raided the houses of dozens of Hurriyat activists for arresting them besides carrying arrests, house arrests and raids on the residences of the senior resistance leaders.
He said Indian forces had launched a crackdown on the resistance leadership and Hurriyat activists in a bid to abort the November 6programme of the APHC that the conglomerate is organising to pay tributes to the Martyrs of Jammu and to fail the November 7 “Million March”.
The Hurriyat (M) spokesman said during the past week, Indian forces were placing barricades and cordoning areas, conducting search operations and frisking people and converting entire Kashmir into a massive prison.
He said the so-called government was doing its every best to implement the Hindutva agenda in Jammu Kashmir and was busy in singing praises for the Prime Minister of India.
The spokesman said it was a case of being more loyal than the king but added that they would not be allowed to overrule the wishes and aspirations of the people for fulfilling their selfish motives.
He asked people to be aware of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party’s agenda stating that for implementing the programmes of the rightwing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sang, this party could go to any extreme and the praises sung by Mufti Muhammad Sayeed for Modi were a proof that Mufti had been handed power to implement RSS’ agenda in Jammu Kashmir.
The spokesman said economic packages announced during the past 68 years had neither been able to distort Kashmir issue’s historic context or the aspirations of the people of Kashmir for a permanent and a lasting political solution nor would such packages change anything in future.
He said Kashmir is a disputed territory, which calls for resolution as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir in the light of the United Nations resolutions or through a dialogue involving New Delhi, Islamabad and the real leadership of Kashmir.
The spokesman said New Delhi had failed in persuading Kashmiris to give up their just struggle for their right to self-determination ever since 1947 but Kashmir struggle had remained alive and now time was ripe to take a political decision to resolve this political and human issue as per the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.
