Srinagar, Nov 1 (KNS): Ahead of the proposed ‘Million March’ by separatists to counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s November 7 rally, the government has launched a crackdown on the separatists and arrested most of the top rung leaders to thwart the march.
Police on Saturday evening swooped on JKLF chairman Yasin Malik and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chief Shabir Shah, and arrested both of them. Later, on Sunday hundreds of activists and leaders were arrested by police and they were lodged in different police stations.
In a statement to KNS, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani said that to sabotage the scheduled “Million March” program, the “puppet state government on the direction of Indian home ministry has started a massive process of arrests, raids and search operations in every nock and corner of the state”.
A JKLF spokesman told KNS Malik was jailed in Kothi Bagh along with other leaders, including Showkat Bakhshi, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and Mohammad Amin Magloo.
“The crackdown on JKLF and other resistance parties throughout Kashmir is a glaring example of frustration of so-call rulers and their masters in Delhi and worst kind of anti-democratic attitude of India and its Kashmiri puppets,” a spokesman of JKLF told KNS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Unleashing this terror across the valley, India and its puppets in Jammu Kashmir have proved once again that they are afraid of resistance camp and are unable to fight the resistance camp politically. It shows the level of frustration rulers are suffering from and is a glaring example of state sponsored violence,” he said.
A DFP spokesman told KNS that a huge contingent of police on Saturday evening arrested Shabir Ahmad Shah from his Sanat Nagar office and took him to some undisclosed location.
He said the puppet government’s so-called ‘battle of ideas’ has been confined to speeches and statements while as every opposite idea is suppressed by the ruling class.
“During the so-called election time, these people start beating the drums of democracy and forget everything after coming to power. Now they have turned the whole valley into a virtual jail,” the spokesperson said.
All these leaders have supported the ‘Million March’ called by Hurriyat (G) Conference Chairman Syed Ali Geelani.
Senior leader JKLF leader Javaid Mir has also been arrested by police. (KNS)
