Valley wide awareness programs launched by Director Agriculture

Kupwara 16 April (KNS) : In a series of events to celebrate the beginning of
Kharief Season and to continue the departments farmer outreach program
Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal visited remote
areas and habitations of frontier district Kupwara.


During the visit Director met a number of delegations from different
villages including Teetwal, Simari, Dringla, Amrohi,Gabhra. The delegations
brought their issues to the notice of Director Agriculture who gave
instructions to the concern officers for the redressal of some of the issues on
spot and ensured the delegations that their demands would be taken care of
on priority basis.


During the interaction with different delegations director agriculture
said that department has decided to reach every farm operating family at their
doorsteps through the farmer outreach program. He said the department has
started a valley wide awareness program about the different schemes and
flagship program being run by the department so that the farmer could get
benefits at the right time.


The department is working on a program where the main focus is on the
educated youth to increase their participation and contribution in agriculture
sector he said and added.
Chowdhary acknowledged the vast potential for agriculture sector in
the frontier district and said the department is working with full commitment
to channelize this potential.
Director asked the officers of the department to work in close
coordination with the Panchayat Raj Institution’s and farming community so
that the latest agriculture interventions and programs could reach farmer well
in time.

Earlier Director Agriculture inaugurated a Hi-tech Poly house and Zag
Rice processing mill at Dringla. He issued on spot directions to the concern
officers to utilize the whole Dringla Farm for vegetable seed production and
vegetable cultivation.


Besides a large gathering of farmers District Development Councilor
Najma Hameed, Block Development Chairperson Teetwal Nishada Parveen,
Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom Farooq Ahmad Shah, Potato
Development Officer Kashmir Waheed-ur-Rehman, Divisional Seed
Certification Officer Kashmir Mir Aijaz Hassan, Agriculture Information Officer
Javed Ahmad Shah, District Agriculture Officer Kupwara Naseer Ahmad Khan,
Chief Technical Officer Sheikh Farhan and other senior officers of the district
were accompanied by the director.(KNS)
