Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNS): Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and People's Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that the agencies that are supposed to do serious work have been weaponized and are being used against politicians, activists, media persons and students.

The PDP chief made these remarks while talking to media persons after her mother, Gulshan Nazir appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Rajbagh Srinagar for questioning in a money laundering case being investigated by the ED. 

Mehbooba said that those who speak truth, be it journalists, politicians or activists, they are being punished in much hyped "Naya Kashmir" and 'New India.' 

She said that the agencies like ED and NIA, who are supposed to do serious work, but unfortunately these agencies have been weaponized and are being used as a weapon against students, politicians, activists and journalists. 

"All those who speak truth at this time and all those who oppose the divisive policies of BJP and those who speak against the false narrative created about Jammu and Kashmir, are being punished," she said, 

On being asked why her mother was summoned by the ED, Mehbooba said that you need to under the chronology as she refused to meet the delimitation commission and held a protest march on August 05, her mother was summoned by the ED. 

She also said that everyone saw it yesterday that how journalists were thrashed by the police while they were discharging their professional duties. 

Notably, Mehbooba Mufti's mother was summoned by the ED to appear before it today and was questioned for nearly 3 hours in connection with a money laundering case being investigated by the ED,  

The ED had issued a notice to her mother, asking her to appear before its office in Srinagar on August 18. Earlier, her mother was summoned by the agency twice, however, she did not appear before the ED on both occasions. (KNS)
