After Years Wait, Bandipora Village Gets Drinking Water

Bandipora July, 29 (KNS): Shelved from  past many years for unknown reasons, the much awaited  Asham Zonipora Water Supply Scheme in North Kashmir's Bandipora District finally see the light of the day on Friday morning to ease the water crisis in Asham village. 

Talking to reporters District Development Council member Sumbal, Ghulam Nabi Ambar said that the foundation stone of the scheme was launched in 2012 by then Minister Mohd Akber Lone and was formally inaugrated today after ten years. 

He said that the project will provide drinking water to around 10 thousand population of Asham village and added that it was a much needed water supply scheme as people here especially women have suffered from decades as they had to walk miles to fetch drinking water. 

Meanwhile locals of the village expressed gratitude to District administration Bandipora for benefitting the people of Asham and its adjoining areas who were craving for potable drinking water since decades and added that it was a dream come true.(KNS)
