After SOS call, PMGSY officer shifts pregnant lady to hospital in JCB in Anantnag

Anantnag, Jan 06 (KNS): A pregnant lady was taken to hospital in a JCB by an officer of PMGSY in Anantnag district due to absence of timely medical help amid inclement weather on Thursday.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the lady was taken to hospital by Assistant Executive Engineer PMGSY, Mohammad Sultan amid inclement weather.

Talking to KNS, Sultan said that they got a SOS call from sarpanch of a village that a pregnant lady needs medical attention and needs to be evacuated to a hospital. 

"We told them that we have only JCB available and at around 5 am in the morning they again contacted us and said that her condition was deteriorating. So, we immediately rushed to the village and shifted the lady safely to the hospital,” he added.

Meanwhile, block medical officer Verinag, Dr. Yousuf said that they got a call today morning and they had sent an ambulance along with a doctor to shift the lady to the hospital, however, the locals had already shifted her safely to the hospital in a JCB. 

“So, the ambulance was not used by the locals but we have provided them the facility in time. There no mismanagement from our side,” he said.

He also said that the department has already notified the people that the pregnant ladies whose delivery period is near should reach the nearest hospitals before their expected date of delivery to avoid any emergency situation. (KNS)
