Will take decision after verifying complaints: Naeem Akhtar

Srinagar, Dec 26 (KNS): The government will decide the fate of Graduate level job tests conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on Friday in coming week following complaints of mass copying and use of mobile internet during the exams from many centers across the state.
“The Board (JKSSB) is conducting an important meeting of its members in coming week to take a final decision about the fate of exams conducted on Friday. The Board will decide whether to re-exam or cancel the exams at the centers where complaints of mass copying have emerged,” Secretary JKSSB, Shabir Ahmad Raina told KNS.
Aspirants for these Graduate level jobs are complaining of mass copying and cheating at a number of exam centers in different districts of the state.
A candidate from Pulwama told KNS that at a exam center in Lyceum invigilators allegedly told the candidates to use internet on mobile phones for finding answers for the questions which the Board had asked in the papers.
Aspirants from districts like Srinagar, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Budgam said that it was free for all situation at the exam centers.
“The Board along with these invigilators made a mockery of the tests for these jobs. If the exams are not cancelled, holding tests won’t mean anything because it will simply help undeserving candidates. Those who worked hard for these exams are frustrated,” said an aspirant from Srinagar.
The Government spokesman Naeem Akhtar told KNS that they have come across these “disturbing” reports of mass copying in SSB exams.
“These are very disturbing reports. Such exams touch the skin of the youth and thus these exams can’t be taken casually. We will find out the veracity of these complaints and certainly we will take appropriate decision. We will also take action against the invigilators who facilitated copying in the exams,” Akhtar, who is also the State’s Education minister, told KNS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Board had Friday cancelled examination at the exam centres in Luthra College of Education and Sacred Heart College of Education in Jammu region after mass copying pictures went viral on social media.
At Sacred Heart College of Education, some candidates resorted to mass copying and even went outside the exam centre along with their OMR sheets thus creating a virtual free for all situation, while at the Luthra College of Education, a number of candidates stormed into the centre after they did not find their roll numbers on the notice board. The agitating candidates tore question papers of others and even took away OMR sheets.
Raina said the total count in these centres was 1500 candidates and now we will see what decision would be taken with regards to these two centres.
Social networking sites were abuzz with criticism against the government and the Board for failing to maintain transparency and the decorum of the vital job tests.
“These scenes are reminiscent of mass copying in Bihar recently,” said Mudassir Ahmad, an aspirant.
The candidates demanded that the Board should cancel Friday’s tests and re-exam all these posts.
“We are receiving complaints of mass copying from candidates from different places in the state. We will verify these complaints and after that the Board will take a decision,” Raina told KNS.
SSB conducted Graduate level job tests of nearly 59,000 applicants on Friday for over thousand non-gazetted posts as part of fast track recruitment at 236 centres across the state.
The candidates said that invigilators at various centers were found helping the candidates in solving the questions by using mobile Internet.
“We demand strict action against the culprits and JKSSB should select reliable venues and trustworthy examiners so that these shameful incidents do not take place again,” the candidates said. (KNS)
