After landslide, authorities asked Zamboor Uri residents not to venture out in vulnerable areas

Uri, May 19 (KNS): In-charge Deputy Controller Civil Defense Uri on Wednesday informed locals of Zamboor Pattan Uri and adjoining areas not to venture around or roam near mountainous Ward No. 4 as the area is slide prone and vulnerable that can trigger damage to life of human beings.

“All the inhabitants of village Zamboor Pattan Uri and its adjoining areas are informed/requested not to venture around/roam near mountainous area at Ward No. 4 as the site mentioned is vulnerable/slide prone and sliding has occurred during intervening night of 17th and 18th of May”, In-charge Deputy Controller Civil Defense Uri said.

He requested people living in these areas to be careful and strictly adhere to the directions by the Disaster Management Authority.

The officer asked people to contact SHO Uri on 9596767711 or In-charge Civil Defense Uri on 9797022411 & 9419541247 in case of emergency.

Earlier authorities shifted at least twenty-three families from Ward No. 4 of Zamboor Pattan to safer places after landslide and shooting stones hit the area.

The affected families however appealed to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and other revenue officials to take stock of the situation at an earliest and provide them safer accommodation so that they do not suffer.

They said due to land sliding incidents, many households lost their land and requested higher authorities to take instant measures for their early rehabilitation.

Meanwhile SDPO Uri Junaid Wali while talking to this reporter said that police and civil officials have rushed to the spot soon after the incidents and are engaged in rescue measures.(KNS)
