Srinagar, Dec 02 (KNS): After five months period, the authorities today allowed Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to offer mandatory congregational Friday prayers and to deliver the sermon at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid.
Reports said that Mirwaiz reached the Jamia Masjid after he was released from house arrest.
Mirwaiz addressed the people here at Jamia Masjid and condemned the disallowing of Friday prayers in the grand mosque for such a long period.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that the arrests and other oppressive tactics won’t deter them from pursuing right to self-determination.
Pertinently, the congregational prayers were allowed at the historic Jamia Masjid on last Friday after 19 weeks. (KNS)
