Srinagar, 21 Aug (KNS) : On the directions of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani remained available to the public today at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subh Complex, Srinagar, where he listened to the grievances and demands of people from various parts of the city and elsewhere.
People and delegations, including senior party leaders, Members of the Legislative Assembly, party office-bearers, workers, representatives of traders’ associations, temporary teachers and other groups, apprised him of their personal and area-specific concerns. The issues raised included public infrastructure, essential services, welfare schemes, employment, roads, electricity, healthcare, drinking water, pending development works and concerns of weaker sections of society.
Provincial President Advocate Showkat Ahmad Mir, State spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Provincial Secretary Syed Tauqeer Ahmad, Minority Cell Convener Jagdish Singh Azad and Provincial Youth President Mushtaq Mir, besides other party office-bearers, were also present on the occasion.
Wani gave a patient hearing to the delegations and assured them that their genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned departments for early resolution. In several cases, he also contacted the concerned authorities on the spot and facilitated necessary action.
Reiterating the government and party’s commitment to accessible and responsive governance, Nisar said, “Our doors are always open to the people. He said remaining accessible to the people, listening to their problems and making every possible effort to resolve them was their duty. “Under a roster system, the Chief Minister and all Ministers visit the party headquarters. Our endeavour is to listen to people’s grievances and facilitate their resolution,” he said.
Nasir said the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has consistently placed public welfare, social justice and democratic values at the heart of its politics. He said the party leadership and workers have continued to stand with the people and work for the resolution of their problems even during the most challenging circumstances.
Highlighting the government’s achievements over the past nearly one-and-a-half years, he said significant steps had been taken in education, healthcare, infrastructure and employment. Construction and improvement of roads in rural and urban areas, strengthening of electricity and water supply, expansion of educational facilities and upgradation of healthcare centres, he said, reflected the government’s people-oriented approach.
He maintained that sustainable development can only be achieved through meaningful public participation, responsive institutions and transparent governance. Wani reiterated that the National Conference remains firmly committed to safeguarding the rights, identity and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will continue its mission of public service with sincerity, dedication and perseverance.(KNS)
