Srinagar, Mar 17 (KNS):Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today took a detailed review of functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation (JKSCSTBCDC) here at Civil Secretariat.

Managing Director JKSCSTBCDC, Dr Bharat Bhushan; OSD to Advisor, Muhammad Ashraf Hakak and other concerned were also present in the meeting.

The managing Director of the corporation apprised the meeting that the corporation has provided loans to the people of the targeted groups during the current financial year to the tune of Rupees twenty crore, which is the highest ever achievement of the corporation in a single financial year.

He further informed that the corporation has recovered loans to a tune of 96 per cent (Rs 1079.94 lakh) whereas total recovery till date since inception of the corporation is about 85 per cent (Rs 8242.92 lakh).

It was given out that out of six Apex Corporations of the country with which the corporation is working, five corporations have been awarded the state corporation to the tune of Rs 11.84 lakh during the current financial year.

This includes, it was informed, National Award for Performance Excellence for State Chanellizing Agencies (SCAs) by National Scheduled Castes finance and development corporation, New Delhi to the tune of Rs three lakh and five lakh (GIA) by National Minorities Finance and Development Corporation, New Delhi to the tune of Rs five lakh.

The Advisor took detailed review of Apex Corporations wise of the loans advanced, recovery position, overall strength of the staff of the corporation and position of accounts.

The Advisor appreciated that in pursuance to the directional given him in the Annual General Meeting of the corporation held in Srinagar on October 19, 2019. The corporation has completed the audit accounts from 1997-98 to 2017-18 and accounts for 2018-19 have also been compiled, the meeting was told.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Advisor Khan while reviewing the constitution of the Board of Directors of the corporation directed to immediately take up with the Apex Corporations regarding nomination of their corporations directors so that Board of Directors meeting can be held in near future.

He directed the MD of the corporation to submit the detailed lists of the beneficiaries assisted, Apex Corporation wise with details of activity and quantum of loans.

While appreciating the efforts of the corporation in providing loans to record number of persons since formation of the Union Territory to come up with a Coffee Table Book on its achievements for wider publicity so that message would reach to the target group population.

Advisor Khan also reviewed the loan facility provided for the of pursue higher studies, and exhorted upon the officers to publicize the scheme so that more students can take advantage of the scheme at nominal rate of interest and pursue their studies in the country and abroad.

Also, the Advisor also chaired a meeting of Social Welfare Board (SWB) to review its functioning.

Executive Director, SWB, Bureeda Majid and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.

The Advisor was informed that around 616 crèche centers through different NGOs are working across UT of J&K wherein targeted group of 0 to 6 years are being imparted nutrition and quality education.

The meeting was informed that Social Welfare Board is running Swedhar Greh homes for women who have been exploited, homeless or destitute in three districts of J&K.

The Advisor directed the concerned officers to implement the Swedhar Greh Scheme in all district of the UT.

It was also given out that 26 counselling centers are being run by the Central Social Welfare Board through UT Social Welfare Board where counselling and social issues related to dowry etc are being done.
