Srinagar, Aug 29 (KNS): Awami National Conference (ANC) senior Vice president, Muzaffar Shah on Wednesday said that noted Supreme Court (SC) lawyer, Meenakshi Arora will appear for ANC and JK Civil Society Coordination Committee members Nasir-ul-Islam, Jagmohan Raina and Advocate Javaid Mir on the hearing of Article 35-A on Friday.
“Meenakshi Arora will also appear on behalf of Civil Society Jammu (JK United Peace Movement) through Dildar Singh resident of ward no. 13 Samba J&K,” Shah said in a statement issued to KNS.
Shahs aid that Arora started practicing law in 1984 at Delhi High-Court and shifted her practice to SC in the year 1986. “In year 2010, her name was recommended by Judge’s Collegiums for elevation as a Judge of Delhi High Court, however she denied to become a Judge and continued with her private practice in Supreme Court,” Shah informed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Shah said that she has been standing Counsel for the Election Commission of India and the full bench of SC headed by CJI Sathasivam designated her as a “Senior Advocate”. “She was one of the members of drafting Committee which drafted the Regulation The Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), Regulations 2013,” Shah added.
He said that Arora is being assisted by SC lawyer Suhail Malik and J&K High Court lawyers including Mir Javaid and Yasmeen Wani from Srinagar and A H Qazi, S C Gupta and M R Qureshi from Jammu. (KNS)
