Srinagar December 22 (KNS): The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department, Kulgam, has issued a notice directing all ineligible beneficiaries availing ration under AAY, PHH and NPHH schemes to voluntarily surrender their ration cards within 15 days.
According a circular a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS) warns that if undeserving beneficiaries fail to surrender their cards within the stipulated period, the department will initiate recovery at penal rates without any further notice. The department has also urged the general public to assist in identifying ineligible beneficiaries in their areas. Information can be shared through email at capdkulgam120@gmail.com or via WhatsApp on 7006727436 and 9906966367. Officials have assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
Authorities said the step aims to curb misuse of the public distribution system and ensure that subsidised food grains reach only eligible families in the district. (KNS)
