Srinagar, Dec 06 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have arrested and active militant and his associate in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. 

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on a specific input regarding the presence of militant in Ningli area of Sopore, a cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 52RR and 177Bn CRPF in the area. 

He said that during the search operation a militant and his associate were challenged by the search party, however, they tried to escape from the spot but the alert search party apprehended them tactfully. 

The militant has been identified as Towfeeq Kaboo son of Ghulam Rasool Kaboo of Arampora Sopore and his associate as Bilal Ahmad Kaloo son of Abdul Rahman Kaloo of Takiabal Sopore. 

The official said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been taken up. (KNS)
