Srinagar, Aug 19 (KNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered an FIR against several officials and beneficiaries in connection with alleged illegal construction and encroachment of state land in the Rajbagh area of Srinagar, officials said on Wednesday.
The FIR, registered as FIR No. 10/2026, followed a joint surprise check and subsequent verification into allegations of construction of a multi-storey building in the flood basin and fringe area of the River Jhelum, the ACB said in a statement.
The verification allegedly found violations in the grant and subsequent modification of building permissions, including a substantial increase in the plinth area and height of the building without obtaining mandatory no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the concerned departments.
The probe also revealed alleged encroachment of around 2.9 kanals of state/Kahcharai land besides construction over drainage infrastructure and within the prohibited river-fringe area, it said.

The FIR names then Senior Town Planner of the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) Muneer Ahmad Khan, then Joint Commissioner (Planning) of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) R K Tutoo and then in-charge Assistant Town Planner SMC Ulfat Jan, besides other concerned officials.
Beneficiaries Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh and Parveena Akhter have also been named in the case.
The accused have been booked for alleged abuse of official position, criminal conspiracy and facilitating unauthorised construction and encroachment under provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and the Ranbir Penal Code, besides other applicable provisions.
The investigation is underway, the ACB said.(KNS).
