Srinagar, Oct 01 (KNS): Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Thursday formally launched the program "CFC in every constituency" by laying the foundation stone of two Common Facilitation Centres in Shopian District.
The Minister laid the foundation of the CFC at Zainapora in Wachi constituency and Gagran in Shopian constituency.
The CFC would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh by converging funds from the 13th Finance Commission award and MGNREGA. The CFCs would be utilized for private as well as government functions like marriage ceremonies, social and official meetings.
The CFCs will include a 30X60 feet main hall, a washroom and pantry and will be completed in one working season.
At Zainapora, the Minister directed the officers to acquire 10 kanals of land for the CFC instead of two kanals for future expansion. He said the construction being done by the government should become an asset which can be used by our future generations. He also stressed people to impart education to their next generations. "Education and literacy are keys to development. Give education to your children. It will guarantee development".
Stating that present dispensation led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed for holistic development and empowerment of people of the State particularly those living in far-flung areas, Abdul Haq said the government is pursuing hard for the sustained development and socio-economic upliftment of the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Interacting with people in Shopian and Wachi, the Minister said the people of the State have given them the mandate to address their problems and fulfill their aspirations and in this regard all possible measures will be taken.
Haq said several initiatives are in pipeline on developmental front to ensure all round development and transformation of the State which will have no parallels in the annals of history.
He said development of rural and remote areas will be ensured by implementation of different Rural Developmental schemes and will be instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas, besides providing much needed employment opportunities to them.
Asking the people to come forward and actively involve themselves in the day to day governance by providing feedback about the status of implementation of various schemes, the Minister said that it is the prime responsibility of the government to provide all basic facilities to people at their doorsteps.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Wachi Aijaz Ahmad Mir, MLA Shopian Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Director Rural Development Tasaduq Jeelani, Director Panchayati Raj, RK Bhat, DC Shopian GM Dar, besides other officers. (KNS)
