Organise free Medical Camp to celebrate “World Rare Disease Day”

Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): Airports Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar International Airport joined hands with the HN Wanchoo Trust, Kashmir organised free Medical Camp, to celebrate "World Rare Disease Day" on 28 February, 2017 between 8 Hrs to 1300 Hrs at Srinagar Airport International, commencing with the aim to provide basic health concerned, awareness to the airport staff in relation to sustain good & healthy life style.
A team of Doctors from SKIMS, Soura headed by Proof Mohd Ashraf Ganie(Famous Endocrinologist) have been present on the occasion. The Medical Camp was inaugurated by, Shri Sharad Kumar, Airport Director, Airports Authority of India, Proof Mohd Ashraf Ganie Shri Ali Mohd. Baba Dy.SP, JKP, Srinagar Airport, and Dr. Amit Wanchoo, HN Wanchoo Trust.
During the inauguration, Chief Guest Shri Sharad Kumar, Airport Director, Airports Authority of India,assured that such type of health camps will be organised in future also at Srinagar airport for the benefit of Airport Staff & passengers. Airport Director highlighted that we are extremely concerned for the Health and well-being of staffs and passengers. Healthy habits prevent diseases such as high blood pressure, stroke, depression, diabetes, arthritis and certain types of cancer. Dr Ashraf while interacting with staff said that healthy habits such as eating a low-fat diet and living an active life help a person to maintain a healthy weight or to reduce excess weight.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSimple habits such as walking, taking the stairs and eating fruits and vegetables are effective in weight control.
The Medical Camp started at 9AM until 1300 Hrs, Staffs were seen on a first come first served basis.Staffs from all airlines, Concessioners, employees of AAI, Ground Handler Agencies including J & K Police, CRPF staff were treated for various illness and free medicines were distributed for both acute and chronic diseases.aidDuring the medical camp special focus was given to physical and visual assessment, Blood pressure, fasting and random blood sugar measured in addition to this lipid profile, thyroid, uric acid and for other test sample were collected. Total 300 No. of staff were registered & examined at the Camp. Total 245 no. of patients were screened for diabetes out of which 140 were suspected for diabetes and referred to Dr. Mahroosa, Dr. Piyush Kahjoria, Dr. Wahid Akbar, Dr Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, Dr. Tajali Sehar and Dr Mohd Shafi Sofi for further diagnosis and treatment accordingly.110 staff screened for hypertension and obesity. 90 were found to be hypertensive and 40 were found to be overweight and total 35 were obese. All staff was counselled by expert doctors and consultant at the camp for weight management. (KNS)
