AAC pays rich tributes to Martyrs of July 13, 1931

Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of July 13, 1931 on their  90th martyrdom anniversary on Tuesday.

Awami Action Committee in a  statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that since its inception in 1963, and before that during the days of Muslim Conference, the party has been commemorating this day, under the leadership of Mohajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah and then under Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq as youm-e -shuhada-e-Kashmir (Martyrs day) and now under the chairmanship of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

“This day was the watershed moment in the contemporary history of J&K, when twenty two Kashmiris were  killed in cold blood by the rulers of the day leading to the launch of the political agitation by the people of Kashmir for the realisation of their political and economic rights and aspirations.”

It said that this is a day when the party and people of J&K by remembering and honouring the sacrifices of the martyrs, renews its commitment to the realisation of their will and aspirations-politically and through peaceful means of conflict resolution, for which these martys laid down their precious lives.

“This year due to Covid-19 pandemic and the two-year-long house arrest of the AAC Chairman Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, the congregational tributes and march to Martyrs' Graveyard to pay tributes to July 13, 1931 could not happen,” AAC said. (KNS)
