Expresses strong resentment, concern arrest of Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): Despite curfew and restrictions, raids on the residences of its office bearers and activists, their arrests and detentions, Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (JKAAC) held an impressive gathering on Monday to observe October 10 as Youm-e-Aseeran.
During the meeting, the delegates while shedding light on the events unfolding on October 10, 1965 said on this day, AAC founder, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq was arrested in the death of the night amid strict curfew throughout Srinagar for representing the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir and highlighting the atrocities done on the people.
During the public gathering, the AAC delegates said after his arrest, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq was first held and interrogated at Jammu Interrogation Centre where he had to bear the pain of the torture of interrogation for two-and-a-half-years but after his release, received a thunderous reception back in Kashmir and addressing the massive public gathering once again made his and AAC’s stand known by calling for resolving Kashmir issue in accordance with the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir.
The meeting laid emphasis on the fact that Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq throughout his lifetime and until his martyrdom stood for the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions or through tripartite talks involving New Delhi, Islamabad and real representatives of people of Kashmir keeping the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris in mind.
During the meeting, the delegates expressed strong resentment and concern over the house arrest of the AAC President and APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq since July 8, 2016 and his arrest in solitary confinement at a sub jail for the past month-and-a-half.
The delegates stressed that the AAC President, who is not only a top political leader of Kashmir but also a top religious leader dispatching duties of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir due to his continued house detention and arrest, was being stopped from performing his religious obligations, which was not only unfortunate but also highly condemnable.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Denouncing the arrest of the Mirwaiz, other resistance and Hurriyat leaders including GhulamNabi Zaki, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, AAC and APHC office bearer and workers and freedom-loving youth, the delegates called for their immediate arrest.
Expressing gratitude to Pakistan and its Prime Minister, Mian Nawaz Sharif, opposition political parties and people of Pakistan for supporting Kashmiris politically, diplomatically and morally, highlighting the ongoing human rights violations in Kashmir at the international platforms and rights bodies, and calling for its resolutions in accordance with the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir, AAC delegates said Pakistan’s support to Kashmir cause right since 1947 was not only encouraging but also gratifying.
During the meeting, the delegates condemned the use of lethal pellet guns, PAVA shells and other weaponry on the peaceful protestors and expressed strong resentment over the killing of 11-year-old innocent student, Junaid Ahmad Akhoon and 90 others, injuries to more than 12,000 people, many of who had been blinded, maimed and handicapped, crackdown on resistance leadership and freedom-loving youth, nocturnal raids and the continuous arrest spree.
Appealing people to maintain sectarian harmony during Muharam-ul-Haram, the delegates called them to foil the nefarious designs of the elements trying to arouse sectarian tensions and condemned the government for continuing the ban on Ashoora processions.
On the occasion, the meeting paid glowing tributes to the AAC workers martyred on 10 October 1965, innocent Kashmiri youth, and people killed during the ongoing uprising and prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to the martyrs and immediate recovery of the injured and Azadi to the people of Kashmir.
