Srinagar, June 08 (KNS): The 12th martyrdom anniversary of the Senior Awami Action Committee (AAC) and resistance leader, and family member of the Mirwaiz family, Shaheed-e-Masjid Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmad was observed with respect and dignity.
On the occasion, Quran Khawani and prayer Majlis was held at the AAC headquarters for the Shaheed-e-Masjid, AAC founder, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and all the other martyrs of Kashmir.
Following the prayers Majlis, the party office bearers and leaders in a separate function paid glowing tributes to the contributions and sacrifices of the Shaheed-e-Masjid Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmad and resolved to take the resistance movement to its logical conclusion.
On the occasion, AAC chief and All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq while terming Shaheed-e-Masjid Moulvi Mushtaq Ahmad as a selfless and straightforward leader who laid his life for greater cause of Kashmir said safeguarding his sacrifice and sacrifices of thousands of other people of Kashmir was the responsibility of the resistance leadership and the nation as a whole.
During the meeting, the AAC office bearers and leaders said Kashmiri Pandits are an important part of the Kashmiri society and Kashmiri people are eager for their return so that centuries’ old history of communal harmony is revived.
However, they said that people who were trying to setup separate townships for the migrant Kashmiri Pandits were just trying to stoke communal fire in the region and harm the centuries’ old amity and brotherhood between Muslim and Pandit communities and create hurdles in their return.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said the reality was that the prominent and respected Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley have been opposing the settlement of the community members in separate townships.
Referring to the setting up of Sainik colonies in Jammu Kashmir, the AAC office bearers and leaders said the conflicting statements given by the government was creating apprehensions among the people and called upon the government to clear their stand over the issue.
Condemning the arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, the AAC leaders demand the release of Malik and all other resistance leaders and workers who have been arrested and held in detentions.
They said the arrests and house arrests of the resistance leaders, placing curbs on their movement, imposing curfew and restrictions and oppressing people had neither helped the previous governments nor would it help the incumbent government.
The AAC leaders said until Kashmir issue was resolved by giving people their right to self-determination or by involving all the three parties to Kashmir issue – India, Pakistan and Kashmiri people and engaging in tripartite talks over Kashmir, peace and prosperity of entire South Asia would remain a distant dream.
