AAC condoles demise of its senior leader Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, pays tributes

Srinagar, Aug 7:(KNS)    Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of a senior and elderly leader Haji Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, who was the former president of the organisation’s Nowshera constituency of Srinagar.

Sheikh Ghulam Hassan passed away at the age of 85 on Friday night. He devoted his lifetime to the Awami Action Committee, the movement and the Mirwaiz Family.

AAC in a statement paid rich tribute to Sheikh Ghulam Hassan for his selfless political services and sacrifices over the past six decades and his positive activities in spreading the organisation’s programmes in his area.

Highly appreciating his services, the AAC said that Sheikh Ghulam Hassan started his political activities as a young activist in the Muslim Conference led by Muhajir-e-Millat Mufassir-e-Quran Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah (RA).

Haji Sheikh Ghulam Hassan joined the Awami Action Committee when it was founded by the Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) after the migration of the Muhajir-e-Millat (RA), the statement said.

The deceased, despite his old age, remained active till his last breath with the current head of the organisation Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and set an example for the leaders and workers of the AAC by his morals, character and abilities, it said.

The Awami Action Committee Chairman Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who could not attend the funeral prayers of the late Sheikh Sahib due to continued house detention, termed the sacrifices made by the deceased for the organisation and the movement as “unparalleled in every respect”.

Mirwaiz expressed heartfelt condolence and sympathy with the deceased’s sons – Sheikh Shabbir Ahmed and Sheikh Farooq Ahmed, and younger brother Sheikh Bashir Shakir. Terming the demise of Sheikh Sahib as a great loss to the organisation and leadership, Mirwaiz prayed for patience of the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the AAC, comprising central leaders and officials, visited the residence of late Sheikh Ghulam Hassan Sahib in Lakharpura, Nowshera and expressed heartfelt condolence and sympathy with the family. The delegation members also offered Fateha for the departed soul.

According to family sources, the congregational Fateha prayers for the deceased will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at their ancestral graveyard.

Later, the Awami Action Committee will pay tributes to Sheikh Ghulam Hassan Sahib for his political and social services, the statement said.(KNS)
