A Weeklong Workshop for Supporting Staff Concludes at GDC Baramulla

Baramulla February 24:(KNS)     A Weeklong organized for supporting staff of Government Degree College, Baramulla concluded today with a modest valedictory. The workshop was jointly organized by the Psychological cum Career Counselling and Placement Cell (PCCPC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college from February 8, 2021.

The inaugural session was held on February 8, 2021, marked by the presence of Dr. A. R. Malik, Secretary, Staff Council, Prof. A. M. Chalkoo, Convener, IQAC, Prof. N. A. Gilllani, Convener, College Advisory Committee and Head, PG Department of Mathematics, Prof. M. Aslam Bhat, Convener, Cultural and Social Activities, Dr. Navshad Ahmad Wani, Convener, PCCPC and Coordinator of the workshop, Prof. Arshad Ahmad Yatoo, Head, PG Department of Computer Applications, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, Placement Officer, and Dr. Naseer Ahmad Lone, Co-coordinator of the workshop.

Dr. A. R. Malik inaugurated the workshop that witnessed the participation of roughly 50 supporting staff of the college. Dr. Malik welcomed the participants of the workshop and lucidly explained the logic behind conducting and investing on workshops or training programs for employees. “Training is important because it represents a good opportunity for employees to grow their knowledge base and improve their job skills to become more effective in the workplace”, said, Dr. Malik.

The weeklong workshop was conducted to upskill the supporting staff with an aim to acquaint them with the new skills, methods, and processes required to improve upon their performance on the jobs. It was also aimed to educate and expose them to certain inevitable components in the world of work, such as communication and soft skills, work culture, work ethics, professionalism, among other things. The importance of cooperation and coordination in work setting and individual and collective accountability while performing/executing the assigned tasks were threadbare discussed and demonstrated as instrumental in the realization of institutional vision and mission.

Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Principal of the college graced the valedictory function along with aforementioned faculty members of the college. While addressing the participants, Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Lone asserted that trainings/workshops/orientation programs are the best tool through which any organization can achieve excellence in its performance. :Periodical refresher training assumes significance in this context as through such programmes teaching and non-teaching staff update their knowledge and clears their understanding on various issues after their institutional training and field experience”, said, Prof. Mushtaq.

The session also witnessed the distribution of certificates among the participants followed by a vote of thanks offered by  Prof. A. M. Chalkoo to reason out the workshop.(KNS)
