Appeals Governor to intervene

Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNS): State General Secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee & MLA Bandipora Usman Majid has urged His Excellency Governor J&K N.N.Vohra to intervene in J&K Waqf Board, as there are allegations that PDP-BJP has made "backdoor appointment" of their relatives and aides in it & also there is huge Misappropriation of funds.
In a statement issued to KNS, Usman said, the fact that despite generating tremendous income one fails to witness any impressive or welfare work done by the WAKF Board. The reality has been constantly hurting masses in Kashmir that despite generating tremendous income one fails to witness any remarkable work done by the WAKF Board especially in key education, health sectors . Even many of the shrines under WAKF lack proper management.
Muslim community in J&K has enough reason to believe that Board has failed to contribute impressively in any of the sectors be it health or education sector,” he added.
Due to lack of transparency and accountability, the Board has failed to make any achievement for the upliftment of Muslims,” Usman said.
“It is sorry state of affairs that our Waqf Board is busy in misuse of funds. Many scams regarding the Board have been highlighted by media, but no action was taken. The Waqf is more interested in recruitments than in doing any developmental work on ground. Because of the appointment of kith and kin by authorities, Wakf is having surplus number of employees,” alleged MLA Bandipora.
Usman Majid said, "A probe should also be held into these appointments to bring forth the truth behind allegations of illegal backdoor appointments.” (KNS)
