Srinagar-Leh Highway Reopens

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar-Leh national highway, vital for connecting Kashmir Valley to Ladakh, reopened after heavy snowfall shut it down on January 28.

An official said that 10 vehicles from the Kargil-Sonamarg and 27 vehicles from the Srinagar-Kargil routes have crossed the Zojila axis, with 160 passengers making the journey.
He said that the district administration of Kargil also contributed by sending 10 vehicles to Srinagar to pick up passengers, including students.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) expressed gratitude to the Union Territory Administration, Ladakh Police, Project Vijayak and Beacon officers, as well as the District Administration for their coordinated efforts.

CEC applauded the dedication of Border Roads Organization (BRO) workers who tirelessly operated in harsh climatic conditions to pave the way for the reopening of this strategic pass.
