Extension Lecture on “Iqbal’s Concept of The Divine” held at Iqbal Institute of Culture and Philosophy, University of Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 15 (KNS) Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy, University of Kashmir, organized an Extension Lecture today on the theme “Iqbal’s Concept of The Divine.” The distinguished speaker on the occasion was Prof. Mufti Mudasir from the Department of English, University of Kashmir.

In a Press release issued, In his thought-provoking lecture, Prof. Mudasir provided a profound analysis of Iqbal’s vision of the Divine, highlighting that for Iqbal, the idea of God is not merely a metaphysical abstraction but a dynamic source of inspiration for human creativity, self-realization, and purposeful action. He emphasized that Iqbal’s conception of the Divine seeks to awaken the inner self, urging humanity to recognize its spiritual potential and to engage actively with the world in the light of divine consciousness. The Lecture was presided over by Prof Ab Rashid Bhat, Former HOD Shah-i-Hamdan Institute of Islamic Studies while Dr Mohiudin Zore was the chief guest on the said occasion.

At the outset Dr Altaf Anjum, Coordinator of Iqbal Institute, welcomed the guests and other dignitaries and expressed his gratitude to the speaker and remarked that such academic engagements play a vital role in deepening our understanding of Iqbal’s thought and in keeping alive the spirit of intellectual inquiry.

The session was moderated by Dr Fayaz Ahmad Wani while as Dr Asrar Ahmad Khan give a brief introduction of the speaker. At the conclusion of the program, the faculty member of the Institute, Dr. Wasim Iqbal Nehvi presented vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the speaker and all participants for making the event a meaningful academic gathering. Dr Aabid Gulzar of Persian also spoke on the occasion with regard to Iqbal’s concept of Divine in light of his Persian poetry.

The session proved to be an enriching experience, contributing significantly to the ongoing scholarly engagement with the philosophy of Allama Iqbal.(KNS)
