AAC encourages prayers, participation in alternative activities to honor Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq

Srinagar, May 16 (KNS): Awami Action Committee on Thursday encouraged prayers and participation in alternative activities to honor Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq.

Awami Action Committee in a statement issued here said that as martyrdom anniversary of its founding chairman shaheed e Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq is approaching on the 21st of May , its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was again put under house detention on 3rd of May and informed that he cannot leave the house . Since then he has neither been allowed to visit Jama Masjid on Fridays to deliver the Friday sermon and offer prayers , or participate in any social and religious event.

Visitors, including media persons are barred from meeting him . While the legal battle for Mirwaiz’s release is ongoing in the court where the state authorities claim him to be a “free man” , yet repeatedly subjects him to detention, statement said.

AAC in a statement said that before 2019 the party would organise week long commemorative functions to honour its leader and the martyrs of Hawal called the hafta e Shahadat . But in the current situation of pressure in all forms on people and leadership to conform , and chocking of every space for expression to them , besides daily arrests and harassment , it is very unlikely that commemorative function’s to pay homage to the beloved leader and the Marty’s involving people’s participation , will be allowed by the authorities.

AAC said that the shaheed leader resides in the hearts of the Kashmiri people, love and respect for whom has only grown in it with time ; missed by them more and more with each passing day.

AAC said that the best way to pay homage to him in the present time and always is to live by what he stood for both as the Mirwaiz and as a selfless political leader , which is to follow the path laid out in Quran and sunnah of the prophet in all aspects of our life .

AAC said that If allowed by authorities , Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid will organise Majlis e Quran khwani and Muqabla Husne Qirat at Jama Masjid on Friday the 17th of May.

People are requested to participate in it and pray for magfirah and jannah for their beloved leader and all the martyrs .

On 18th May Saturdays an educational seminar will be organised by Anjuman Nusratul Islam at the central hall of Islamia school srinagar under the title “Our Society Our Responsibilities“ In which students from different schools will participate

On 21st of May people are requested to visit Eid Gah and offer Fatiha to their beloved leader Shaheed-e-Millat , Shaheed-e- Hurriyat, Hawal Martyrs and to all the martyrs , if authorities allow it . A commemorative gathering would be held there If they allow the Mirwaiz to visit his father’s grave, statement added.(KNS)
