IG CRPF says after 2019 attack situation has largely improved in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 14 (KNS):Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar today said of the 19 militants involved in the pulwama attack in 2019, eight have been killed, seven arrested and four, including three Pakistanis, are still alive.


On the fourth anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack, after paying tributes to the 40 CRPF men who were killed in one of the deadliest attacks on security forces at Pulwama on this day in 2019, the ADGP while speaking to reporters said that the security forces are after Jaish-e-Muhammad and almost all their top commanders have been neutralised.

He said that the total 19 militants were involved in the 2019 Pulwama attack. Of which, 8 terrorists were neutralised, 7 have been jailed and 4 militants including JeM chief Masood Azhar are in Pakistan.

The ADGP said that there are 37 active Militants in Kashmir as of now while no new militant recruitment has been reported from Srinagar district.

"7-8 local Jash-e-Mohammad militants are left and 5-6 foreigners including Musa Sulemani are active in Pulwama and they will be neutralised soon. JeM has increased its recruitment for the past 6 months now. Won't let them flourish now in Kashmir," he said.

Meanwhile, Inspector General Operations Sector CRPF, M S Bhatia said that after the Pulwama attack, the situation in Kashmir has largely improved. "Militant modules are being busted by the security forces and it is being ensured that such an attack does not happen in future," he said, adding that militancy and it's eco-system is over now.

On the national highway, he said that round the clock surveillance is being carried out through various technologies including Bomb disposal squad (BDS) equipment.(KNS).
