Eight people including four CRPF personnel were injured in a grenade attack at KP Road Anatnag today, reports said.
The grenade which was targeted on CRPF vehicle is the second grenade attack in Anantnag town in past five days. The blast created panic in the area with people running helter-skelter to the safer places.
The injured including a CRPF commandant, three CRPF Jawans and four civilians were rushed to the district hospital Anantnag where doctors declared them out of danger, but two serious injured CRPF men were shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Reports said a CRPF vehicle and two civilian vehicles were injured in the attack.
Soon after the attack, top police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched search operation to nab the attackers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, they had already fled the spot in the din of the situation.
Top police and CRPF officials, meanwhile, reached the spot and passed strict direction to ensure safety of the Yatra route.
Meanwhile, Tehreekul Mujahideen has claimed the responsibility of the attack. In an emailed statement to KNS, spokesman of Tehreekul Mujahideen Dr Abdul Haq said that the attack was aimed on ‘Indian forces’ and “not on tourists, Yatris or civilians”. He claimed that one force personnel was killed in the attack. (KNS)
