YS&S Alok Kumar joins students at Botanical Garden to perform Yoga

Srinagar 21 June (KNS): District Youth Services & Sports Office Srinagar on Sunday celebrated 7th
International Yoga Day (IDY 2021) with the theme "Yoga for Wellness" across Srinagar with
enthusiastic participation of students and whole field staff.

As part of the celebrations, acommon Yoga protocol session was conducted, while a large number of participants across Srinagar joined virtually through Zoom and other social media handles. In keeping with IDY2021 theme, the event showcased holistic health thereby stressing on both health andhappiness by improving the physical and mental well-being of people, especially given the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic. Pr. Secretary to Govt.

YS&S department  Alok Kumar graced the occasion as Chief Guest and joined participants at Botanical Garden Srinagar. The Chief Guest participated in the session in person, while a large number of participants across Srinagar joined virtually.

The presence of Chief Guest  Alok Kumar encouraged the participants and in his brief speech he advised participants to make yoga a habitual part of their daily routine. He further encouraged students to share various Yogic Asnas with their family and friends. Joint Director Kashmir, YS&S  Bashir Ahmad graced the venue as Guest of Honor ad performed yoga with the participants. District Youth Services & Sports Officer Srinagar, Shri Balbir Singh under whose supervision and monitoring the whole celebration was conducted, also performed yoga with the participants at Botanical Garden.


Around 3400 participants, majority of them students, participated in the celebrations through
offline and virtual modes. A control room was set up at DYSSO Srinagar to coordinate and
monitor the celebrations across Srinagar. Offline Yoga camps where organized at Botanical
Garden Srinagar, BHSS Shalimar (Block Harwan), Dubai International School (Block
Qamarwari), HSS Khanmoh (Block Khanmoh), BHSS Zadibal (Block Srinagar), HS Gulabagh
(Zone Gulabagh), GHSS Nawakadal (Zone Zaldagar). SOPs/Covid appropriate behavior was
observed at all the offline locations during the celebrations.(KNS)
