700 posts lying vacant in KPDCL department: Sheeba Ashai claims

Srinagar, April 30 (KNS): Jammu Kashmir People's Party chief Sheeban Ashai expressed dismay over 700 posts lying vacant in Kashmir Power Development Corporation .

In a statement he said is beyond shocking that about 400 posts alone of junior engineers have been lying vacant for years now, jeopardizing the field functioning.

“Coveted posts of Managing Director, Transmission Corporation for past seven months, while posts of Executive Directors in DISCOMs and TRANSCO are vacant since February 2022. Furthermore,  four posts of Chief Engineers, 13 posts of Superintending Engineers are also vacant. There's been a halt on recruitment process since 2016, which badly affects functioning of various corporations.”

He added not only this, what is extremely saddening is that no major reorganization has taken place since late 1990's despite manifold increase in assets.

“Situation at lower management level is so grave that Executive Engineers are holding charge of 3-4 Divisions spread across multiple Districts. What happened to State Administrative Council (SAC) decision directing regularization of all power engineers in two months as more than four years have passed, no progress has been made in this direction.”

He said it is extremely distressing that not only hundreds of posts have been lying vacant, in gross disregard of SAC decision there has been delay of four years in regularising services of engaged engineers.

“If all this was not enough, there are major inconsistencies in following set policy for promotion at all levels. Incumbent Chief Engineers of the department have not been promoted on a regular basis. Majority of Superintending Engineers (SE's) and Executive Engineers (XEN's) have been drawing salaries of Junior Engineers (JE's)".

Highlighting such anomalies, he demanded LG Manoj Sinha to personally oversee what is happening in KPDCL. (KNS)
