Gallantry, Meritorious, and Distinguished Service Awards Conferred; Senior Officers Among Recipients
Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNS): In a significant recognition of courage and dedication, fifty-two personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were decorated with police medals on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, according to an official list released on Sunday.
As per the list accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) The honours including the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, the Medal for Gallantry, and the Medal for Meritorious Service, reflecting the diverse and exemplary contributions of the force in challenging circumstances.
Two senior officers were accorded the nation’s highest police service honour—the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. They are Deputy Inspectors General of Police Haseeb Mughal and Nisha Nathyal, recognised for their outstanding leadership and service.
Thirty-three personnel received the Medal for Gallantry for acts of exceptional bravery in operational situations. Seventeen officers were awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service, acknowledging sustained and diligent performance. Among them are three Inspector Generals of Police: Mohd Suleman Choudhary, Sujit Kumar, and Vivek Gupta.
Other recipients include Deputy Superintendents of Police Himat Singh, Champa Devi Sharma, and Khushwant Singh; Inspectors Anil Sharma, Reyaz Ahmad Langoo, Sardar Singh, Neeraj Kumar Koul, and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat; alongside Assistant Sub-Inspectors and Constables who have demonstrated unwavering commitment.
The awards underscore the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s dual role in maintaining public order and countering security threats. The recognition on Republic Day highlights the central government’s acknowledgment of the force’s sacrifices and professionalism in a sensitive region. (KNS)
