Inviting school children to plant saplings is to inculcate importance of forests among them: Zareef

Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNS): Continuing with its afforestration drive in Kashmir, Rahim Green and School for Rural Development and Environment alongwith locals and school children planted hundreds of tress on the foothills of Tosamaidan in Budgam district.
The plantation drive is a social effort initiated by Rahim Motors under its sustainable development initiative launched in 2013 by Abdul Hamid, proprietor of Rahim Motors and the initiative has been supported by School for Rural Development and Environment and JK RTI Movement.
More than 500 Deodar saplings were planted in the forest areas of Drung and Sitharan hamlets where deforestation and illegal cutting of trees have denuded the forest land.
Speaking on the plantation drive, famous Kashmiri poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef described the efforts as path-breaking and revolutionary to regain the green gold in Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Zareef, who was chief guest at the dirve, said that inviting school children to plant saplings in forests and other areas in Kashmir is a message and education to inculcate sense of social responsibility and importance of forests for climate and human life.
Adbul Hamid said that his voluntary initiative to plant trees across Kashmir will continue till deforested land is reclaimed and Kashmir’s green environment is restored.
Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, chairman of School for Rural Development and Environment said that the aim of the plantation drive going on for many years now is to regain the lost forests and green gold in the state.
To laud and acknowledge the participation of the students, certificates of appreciation were given to them by Zareef Ahmad Zareef. (KNS)
