Congress to launch another phase of agitational programme soon: JKPCC Chief.

Jammu, April 01 (KNS):  Expressing gratitude to the people  and party workers for the tremendous response to the 45 days agitational programme against tax terrorism of BJP Govt, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President G.A. Mir has said that Congress party would soon launch another phase of agitational programme to expose the failures of the BJP led Centre Govt. and the UT administration on various fronts, compounding the problems of people.

Shah Mohd Choudhary, Manmohan Sigh, Rajnish Sharma, Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA), Balbir Singh (Ex-MLA), Hari Singh Chib-President DCC Jammu Rural,  Suresh Dogra-Chairman PCC OBC Cell, Uday Chib (PYC),  Adv. Ganjan Singh, Sanjeev Sharma and Babal Gupta and others, Shri Mir thanked the people especially party workers for the tremendous response to the 45 days long series of protests throughout the Jammu and Kashmir against the tax terrorism leading to unprecedented price  hike of petrol, diesel, gas and all other commodities including  hike 19 % in fare & freight charges, besides record unemployment apart from seeking restoration of statehood.

He said that there are host of issues confronting the people  and  the Congress party as a principal opposition party in the country and J&K, is raising the voice of each and every section of the  society,  who are suffering due to the  policies of the BJP Govt. The entire leadership and ranks involved in these protests and were detained several times.

He said that the Modi Government is fleecing the people  through multiple taxes and increase in taxes while the resources of J&K are being sold to outside  people depriving the local population of the opportunities to earn their livelihood. Even sand and Bajri which used to taken out by locals from Nallas & rivers & sold on cheaper rates, have been allotted to outside people who are selling to the people at exorbitant rates which are unaffordable by common man.

He said that the people are realizing great hardships post disbanding and downgrading of the state, as no Govt. are private job opportunities were created as promised. The adhoc, daily, contractual, need based workers are on roads, selectees of BSF/CISF, Anganwadi workers/helpers, Asha workers, Lamberdar/Chowkidars are protesting for their rights but no one is listening to them from Govt. or the ruling BJP. Farmers in the Country are on agitation for around 4 months but Modi Govt is unmoved and indifferent.

JKPCC Chief strongly condemned the series of terrorist strike resulting into innocent killings, especially political workers and  questioned the claim of Modi Govt. for its claim that militancy would die down post disbanding of state to UT.

He said that the claim of DGP is that there are 200-250 active terrorists in J&K and same number wanting in POK to cross over, exactly what was the position prior to Aug 5, 2019. He said that the BJP should explain now the failures to wipe out terrorism post abrogation of special status and downgrading state into UT as well as  demonetization and also explore all other available  forums and means to restore the  faith of the youth and people in mainstream.

He said that Congress party would soon launch a  second phase of agitational programme throughout J&K and the  mode of agitation would be chalked out keeping in consideration the Covid-19 situation.

He said that Modi Govt. is burdening the people with huge taxes just to keep the common people on their knees, so that they don’t question the wrong moves of the BJP Govt. He said that every genuine protests against price rise, power, water, facilities and toll tax etc. are not tolerated by the UT administration and the people especially youth are  detained illegally. The top Congress leaders were detained time and again for the protests over the common issues of general public. This is very unfortunate and against the basic spirit of democracy.

Mir said that around 50,000 people directly participated in over 100 protests in 45 days in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, while hundreds of  Congress workers were arrested and detained by the police in different places, for no reason or violations but the directions of the BJP Govt. are that no protests should be held. However Congress shall continue to strongly raise the voice of each and every section against the arbitrary actions of Modi Govt. and UT administration. (KNS)
