5 more houses attached in Srinagar for being used for purpose of militancy: Police

Srinagar, July 28 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir police have attached five more residential houses under UAPA in Srinagar district for allegedly being used for militancy purpose in the district. 


In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that after taking prior approval of PHQ, five properties have been attached as per provisions of sec 2(g) and 25 Unlawful activities prevention act. 

The statement reads that residential houses  Baber Suhail Sofi and Adil Mohd Lawaypora—both residents of Lawaypora, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, Rameez Ahmad Mir of Maloora have been attached.

It reads that these houses were used by militants who were involved in case FIR Mo.48/2021 U/S 307,302,392,120/B  IPC, 7/25,7/27 A-Act  16,18,20, UA(P) Act registered in police station Parimpora.

It added that residential house in Firdous Abad  Batamaloo belonging to one Abdul Majeed Ganie in Case FIR No 128/2020 U/S 7/27 A Act ,16,19, 20 UAPA, 302 ,307 IPC in Batmaloo PS and double storey house in respect of Ab Rehman Bhat of Harwan  involved in case FIR No 95/2021 U/S under section 307 IPC 7/27 A Act, 13,16,18,19,20 UAP Act dated 19-12-2021 of PS Harwan have also been attached. 

“During the course of investigation, it was proved beyond doubt that these houses were used by active militants in conspiring, planning and executing militant acts in Srinagar district,” it reads.

It further reads that the house owners willfully provided shelter and harboured militants in these houses and logistics needed for such stay.

“The general public is once again requested to not harbour or provide shelter or extend logistics to militants and their associates in their houses, failing which strict legal action will be taken against anyone doing so,” it added. (KNS)
