5-day capacity development programme kick-starts at NIFT Sgr

Srinagar. Feb 13 (KNS):  A five-day-long capacity development programme, for administrative and accounts staff, kick started on Monday at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar.

The workshop is being organised for the capacity building of ministerial staff besides the newly recruited employees and the existing employees of the institute.

In his opening remarks, the Director NIFT Srinagar, Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani said the workshop will focus on discussing financial rules, and purchasing procedures besides other aspects to enhance the knowledge of the employees of the institute.

The Director said the programme has been organised to keep the employees motivated and will give a new experience to them as well.

“The programme has been organised to improve upon the capacity of ministerial staff towards administrative, financial, and accounting rules and systems,” he said.

The Director said the workshop will also provide an opportunity for participants to interact with experts on different topics and deliberate upon various issues confronting them.

“The participants will utilise the outcome of the workshop effectively in the smooth working of the institute and it will inculcate a spirit of accountability, transparency, and expediency among the staff,” he said.

The Director NIFT also briefed the newly recruited employees about the yearly academic calendar and other activities being undertaken by the institute.

During the five-day programme, the participants will have a series of lectures by well-known experts besides a session will be held on pedagogy and special sessions by invited experts as well.

Speaking at the occasion, the Assistant Director NIFT Ishtiyaq Hussain Bhat in his address said full-length micro and technical sessions besides workshop exercises and open house discussions will be part of the capacity building programme.

“The workshops will also frame some workable recommendations and approaches that will be brought into practice to affect a differentiation and innovation in the entire process of financial and accounting system of the institute,” he said.

During his special address, Dr. Mubashir Majid Baba from the Department of Management Studies of Kashmir University talked about teamwork and developing interpersonal relationships between the employees of the organisation.

“Teamwork helps in getting quick solutions, better ideas, and motivation and also helps in diversification of work. All these qualities ultimately prove fruitful for the organisation,” he said.

Terming Human Resource (HR) an asset for the organization, Dr. Mubashir Majid Baba said the teamwork of the employees help the organization to achieve new heights.

While talking about leadership qualities, he said the “leadership” qualities play a pivotal role in empowering employees and encouraging them to work for the organisation.

Experts from other Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) like the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, Central University of Kashmir are also visiting NIFT campus for the workshop.(KNS)
