5% hike on aviation fuel will be huge jolt for Ladakh tourism industry: Jora

‘It will deter tourists from visiting Ladakh’

Srinagar, Jun 02 (KNS): Congress CLP leader, Nawang Rigzin Joraon Thursday said that 5% hike on aviation fuel will be huge jolt for tourism industry of Ladakh but the finance minister, Haseeb Drabu stood his ground and refused to roll back the hike.
Jora in a statement issued to KNS said that the hike will deter the tourist from visiting Ladakh and hit Ladakh's tourist industry as they already find the airfare very expensive. “This increase will be huge jolt for tourism industry of Ladakh. But the Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu stood his ground and refused to roll back,” Jora said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that despite argument and counter argument between him and finance minister, Drabu refused to roll back 5% hike on aviation fuel citing that there is very little refueling taking place in Srinagar. “While that may be true for Srinagar, all the airlines flying into Leh have to do refueling in Leh due to limitation of load factor,” he said.
Jora argued that this will hike up the already very expensive flight into Leh and will be cause of concern for the Ladakhis whose only connectivity into and out of Leh for 6 winter months. (KNS)
