Traffic dept conducts special traffic sensitization programme

Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNS): On the fourth day of 28th Road Safety Week, the Traffic Police City Srinagar on Thursday conducted a special traffic sensitization programme at all important junctions in City Srinagar in which traffic cops, volunteers from an NGO were engaged to distribute publicity material to passing by commuters related to various DO’s and Don’ts while driving/riding a vehicle.
It is worth to mention here that the 28th Road Safety Week-2017 commenced from Jan 09.
According to the statement issued to KNS, Traffic police said that documents of vehicles were checked on spot and commuters were apprised of the importance of documents while during a vehicle.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The aim of the programme was to reach out to the target groups that are apprehended to be involved in road mishaps and traffic congestion,” the official handout reads.
The officials said that programme was conducted exclusively to sensitize commuters for their cooperation to decongest City Srinagar by abiding by the traffic rules/Do’s & Don’ts.
“Commendation certificate and sweets were distributed among the commuters who were found having proper documentation of their vehicles and fitness. Besides, challans were executed against chronic traffic violators,” the statement reads. (KNS)
