Srinagar, Feb 2 (KNS): Around 400 militants have been killed during encounters since Vijay Kumar took over as the Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone, officials said here on Wednesday. 

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that with the killing of a militant in Shopian encounter today, militants killed during IGP Vijay Kumar's tenure stands at 400. 

Kumar, took over as the IGP of Jammu and Kashmir of Police, Kashmir zone on December 30, 2019, replacing SP Pani. 

Officials said that last year alone, 171 militants were killed during 89 encounters of which 21 were foreign militants. (KNS)
