Karnah, June 21 (KNS): Mir Mohalla area of Prada village in Karnah area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district is reeling under darkness for the past three months as Power Development Department (PDD) has miserably failed to repair defunct transformer, thus leaving the consumers to lurch at large.

Resident of Mir Mohalla of Prada told news agency KNS that for the last three months the area is without electricity as the transformer of the area has developed technical snag even after being repaired by the concerned department twice.

The villagers said that the department has failed to repair the transformer again and the area is reeling under darkness for the past 3 months.

“We are being forced to use kerosene lamps and candles during night. Our Childrens' online study has been hit as without electricity they are unable to charge their mobile phones and laptops, and they ultimately fail to attend online classes,” said Sajad Ahmad, a local resident.

Meanwhile, the residents appealed to the higher authorities to intervene into the matter so that they can heave a sigh of relief. (KNS)
