Srinagar, Mar 15 (KNS): Three unidentified militants and a minor girl were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in frontier Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Wednesday.
Sources said acting on specific information, police along with 41 Rashtriya Rifles, and 98 Battalion CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Jugtiyal, Hyhamain Kupwara. “During the searches, militants present in the area fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated, resulting in an encounter in which three militants were killed. The identity of these militants is being ascertained,” they said.
A police constable identified as Danish Ahmad was also injured in the encounter and he was shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment, they added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Javid Mujtaba Gilani while confirming the killing of three militants in the encounters told KNS that one girl also died when stray bullet hit her. He said another boy was also injured in the incident who has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment.
The slain girl has been identified as Kaneeza while the injured boy is also a minor identified as Faisal.
Srinagar based PRO Defense told KNS that three AK47 rifles and other ammunition were recovered from the position of the slain militants. (KNS)
