3 Drug Peddlers Arrested, Narcotics Seized In Handwara: Police

Handwara, Feb 20 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that it arrested three drug peddlers and recovered narcotics in Kralgund and Langate areas of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.


"On February 19, 2023, a police party of PS Kralgund while on Naka checking on Baramulla-Handwara highway at Rasripora apprehended two persons who had attempted to avoid the naka party in a suspicious manner," the police said, adding that on their search 480 grams of charas like substance and 385 banned tablets of Tapentadol were recovered from their possession. 

The accused as per police have been identified as Irshad Ahmad Dar S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Handwara and, Hilal Ahmad Mir S/o Mohammad Amin R/o Behrampora Rafiabad. "In relation to this, case FIR No. 10/2023 U/s 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kralgund and investigation is set into motion," it said.

Furthermore, the police said on 19 February 2023, a police party of PP Langate while on patrolling at Tulwari Langate, apprehended one person who had attempted to avoid the police party in a suspicious manner. 

"On search, around 110 gm of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession," it said, adding that the person has been identified as Zubair Bashir Wani @Umar, S/o Bashir Ahmad, R/o Tulwari Langate. 

"Based on this, FIR No. 31/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Handwara and investigation has been initiated," the police added.(KNS)
