Aishmuqam, Nov 09 (KNS): At least three cows were killed and a cattle was injured in a bear attack in Aishmuqam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday even as the local intezamia committee of Aishmuqam shrine appealed to the authorities to take preventive measures.

Locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that bears attacker a cowshed of one Abdul Majeed Bala in the wee hours today and killed his three cows and left one cattle injured.

They said that the incident has sent shock waves in the locality, while alleging the PDD of cutting power supply of all street lights.

They also alleged that the wildlife department are aware of the frequent moving of wild bears and other wild animals in the area, but they have to take any preventive measures.

Meanwhile, Aishmuqam intizamia committee president, Mohammad Yaqoob Gadiyal appealed to the district and the concerned authorities to come to the rescue of victims and take preventive measures.

He also requested to restore the street lights on Aishmuqam shrine road via Iram colony and adjacent areas so that such incidents can be prevented in the future.

Meanwhile, Haji Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Mohammad Shafi Zargar and Nazir Ahmad Lone have also appealed to the LG admin, president town area committee Sofi Arafat to do all possible efforts and instant measures for helping the victims financially. (KNS)
