Srinagar, Feb 14 (KNS): One militant, three army men were killed in an encounter on Tuesday in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, 11 security forces, including army major sustain injuries, army spokesman said.
Defence spokesman colonel Rajesh Kalia told KNS that, after specific inputs about the presence of militant, 13 RR, 31 RR, 45 Bn of CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Parraypora village of Hajin area early morning on Tuesday, in gunfight a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was killed.
He said, “three army men were killed and five including Major Vishal Thapa of 13-RR, were injured in gunfight with a militants today.”
Army spokesman said the operation has been terminated. The incident took place when government forces launched a search operation in Parraypora village of Hajin area after receiving information about holed-up militants.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The injured army men are ; IC-735154; Major BS Thapa; Unit 13 RR, No 4206356A; Sepoy Mukesh Chandra Bhatt; Unit 13 RR, No 4203395; Sepoy Jatinder Singh; Unit 13 RR, No 13629432P; Ptr Sandeep Kumar; Unit 31 RR, No 1377052L; Ptr Ravi Kumar; Unit 31 RR, No 4681; Commandant Chetan Chita; Unit 45 Bn CRPF, Major Vishal Thapa of 13 RR is among the injured.
Superintended of Police Bandipora Shabir Ahmad said that atleast six police officers sustain minor injuries in today’s gunfight.
An eyewitness told KNS that a civilian was also injured after protests erupted near the encounter site. He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Parrey, son of Mustafa Parrey. (KNS)
