2nd Gunfight breaks out in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 01 (KNS): An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Khandipora village of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said here on Tuesday. 


As per police, the encounter broke out when joint teams of forces launched an anti militancy operation in the area. “During a search operation, as the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated upon effectively leading to an encounter,” it said. 

The Kashmir zone police in a Tweet, said that Awantipora police and Army’s 55 RR were on job. “Encounter started at Khandipora, Awantipora area of Pulwama district. Awantipora Police & Army (55 RR) are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the police said.

Notably, an encounter is underway at Semthan village of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.(KNS)
