Srinagar, Jan 06 (KNS): Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (C&PD), Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Wednesday said that 22 lakh families living across the state have submitted their self declaration forms for new ration cards, while two lakh fifty thousand families are yet to submit.
Talking to KNS over phone, Ali said that people from every district of the Valley, except Srinagar, have submitted their forms in the department. “Almost 1 lakh 50 thousand families of Srinagar district are yet to submit their forms to the department,” the minister said.
“There were several families who were having more than one ration cards. The said families will not submit their second form in the department. In case they will submit, the department will not accommodate their forms,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Asking people to submit their forms, the minister said, “The families from Srinagar who are yet to submit their ration card forms should submit the same at earliest to get the benefits from the department,” he said.
Earlier, CA&PD Minister while addressing a presser here at banquet hall here on December 25, 2015 has said that the department has so far enrolled about 22 lakh families in the state under the Act. “In Jammu region, 12, 58, 929 forms have been distributed, while 10, 41, 465 forms have been submitted back. In Kashmir, 13, 07, 081 forms have been distributed, while as 11, 52, 707 forms have been submitted back,” Ali has said. (KNS)
