‘All injured stable, 12 airlifted to command hospital Udhampur, one to B&J Srinagar’

Srinagar, Oct 06 (KNS): The Srinagar-Jammu highway continued to witness deadly accidents as Saturday witnessed the death of more 20 passengers in Ramban area.
20 people were dead while 17 others sustained injuries after an overcrowded minibus fell into a deep gorge in Ramban district, officials in the district administration said.
They said that a minibus bearing registration number JK19-1593 was heading towards Ramban from Banihal in this morning during which the driver of the vehicle lost its control over it near Kela Morh near Maroof, thus fell into the 200-ft-deep gorge.
Officials informed that a rescue operation was launched soon after the accident occurred. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat was personally monitoring the rescue operation.
SSP, other police officers, CRPF, Army, SDRF, Tehsildar and locals took part in the rescue operation.
Officials said that the injured persons were airlifted to command hospital Udhampur and others, saying that all the injured persons are stated to be stable.
The deceased were identified as Mashqoor Ahmad Giri, son of Late Mohd Ayoub Giri of Bankoot Banihal, Mohd Shafi Rather, son of Gh Hassan rather of Doligam Banihal, Sunil Singh, son of Rattan Singh of Digdool Ramban, Mohd Irfan, son of Mohd Suliman of Panthyal Ramban, Manzoor Ahmad, son of Amdullah Bhat of Senabhati Gugrara Ukheral, Nayeem Ahmed, son of Mohd Yaseen Ganai of Maligam Ukheral, Rukshanda, daughter of Mohd Rafiq Wani of Chanjloo Banihal, Reyaz Ahmad Khan, son of Ab Rasheed Khan of Tethar Banihal, Mohd Iqbal Shah, son of Noor Din Shah of Chakka Rajgarh, Mohd Ramzan Wani, son of Momjau Wani of Doligam Banihal, Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohd Ramzan Ganie of Doligam Banihal, Rashma, daughter of Ismail Gouger of Amkoot Banihal, Tanveer Ahmad Baigh, son of Mohd Afzal Baigh of Kaskoot Banihal, Kadal Devi, daughter of Tarith Singh of Marog Ramban, Ramtullah rather, son of Ab Gani Rather of Tantarypora Banihal (Driver), Mudasir Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Jabbar Mir of Bankoot Banihal, Mohd Yousuf Kumar, Amdullah Kumar of Darshpora and Utkaranath Mangoyra, son of Surash Mangotra of Udhampur.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
However, the name of one more male deceased was not known, officials said.
They identified the injured passengers as Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohd Sultan of Dhardhei Ramsoo, Damandeep, son of Ashok Singh of Marg, Masjid Ahad, son of Abdul Majid of Alindas Ukhral (conductor), Shabir Ahmad Baigh, son of Ahmad Baaigh of Lamber Banihal, Showkat Husain, son of Manzoor Husain of Samba, Jaffar Ali, son of Abdul Ali of Danar Nowgam Banihal, Ab Ahad of Zanihal Banihal, Mohd Shareef, son of Shamsdin of Wagan Chamalwass, Mohd Ismail, son of Nizamudin of Chamalwass, Rabia, daughter of Mohd Rafi of Sonwari, Mohd Iqbal, son of Fateh Mohd of Khari, Bashir Ahmad, son of Mahroom Mir Ali of Chamalwass, Rajesh Kumar, son of Harbans Lal of Ramsoo, Rayees Ahmad Tantray, son of Ghulam Rasool Tantray of Banigam and Mohd Rafi, son of Habibullah of Chanjiloo Banihal.
However, two among the 17 were not known, officials said.
They said that 12 among them were airlifted to command hospital Udhampur while as one was shifted to Bone and Joint hospital in Srinagar.
Officials also informed that three injured had sustained minor injuries in the accident, saying that all the injured persons are stated to be stable. (KNS)
