Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNS): The authorities in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district have suspended two teachers of a government school over alleged corporal punishment to three students in their school.
According to an order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), deputy commissioner Kupwara ordered suspension of two teachers of Upper Primary School Gampora Budanamal of Kralpora zone over complaint regarding alleged corporal punishment to three students.
As per the order deputy commissioner Kupwara also constituted a committee of four members to thoroughly enquire the matter and submit factual report within 10 days.
The teachers, who have been suspended, include Shaukat Ahmad Lone and Naseer Ahmad Lone.
“One Gh. Mohammad Lone S/o Abdul Khaliq R/o Bundnamal along with his wife & three school going children approached to this office with a written complaint regarding corporal punishment by the teachers namely Mr. Shaukat Ahmad Lone & Mr. Naseer Ahmad Lone Teachers UPS Gampora Budanamal Zone Kralpora,” it the order.
It reads that preliminary enquiry was conducted into the matter and prima-facie it appears that the matter is a case of corporal punishment and needs to be enquired into thoroughly.
“Pending enquiry into the matter, both teachers are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. In the meantime, a committee comprising is hereby constituted to conduct a thorough enquiry into the matter and come-up with a factual report along with specific comments or remarks within 10 days for further course of action,” it added.
The committee comprises of district Social Welfare Officer Kupwara, Tehsildar Kralpora, ZEO Kralpora and SHO Kralpora. (KNS)
